Full Narrative
In the summer of 2024, I pulled a Costco sales brochure from my mailbox — but something was off. The mailing was valid for only one week more. Normally these arrive weeks before the advertised discounts begin. Puzzled, I spoke with Costco staff who confirmed that mailings are never sent after a sale starts; it should have reached me well in advance. Looking back, the explanation is chilling: someone had broken into my car, retrieved my keyring, copied both the apartment and mailbox keys, and returned them without leaving a trace. What looked like a harmless late mailing was a signal of deeper intrusion.
