In 2022, the person I formerly had a long-term relationship with claimed time and again he did not want to spend time with me yet continued to do so. He went with me when I volunteer taught at night, attended festivals, as well as other activities. He did so to monitor and surveil me to make sure I was not talking to other people. This was evident when an attorney he hired sent me a letter requiring residence removal. I never knew he met with her nor that the attorney was going to send me this letter. He later rescinded the letter but then leveraged it against me during discussions about how nice he was not to kick me out of my own home. The companionship was surveillance; the legal threat was control.
