In 2024, there was heavy battery usage on the Roku remote when I used the battery sparingly. In one week the battery went from 40% to zero requiring me to replace them. Before then I had to replace the battery very quickly. Yet, before spring 2024 the batteries would be viable for months. This is a strong sign that the microphone capability was used to listen and record my conversations. The dramatic battery drain pointed to constant audio surveillance through the remote.
