In summer 2024, upon reviewing my apps I noticed a mental health app I had not downloaded. I immediately deleted it. However, that same app, this time in Chinese characters, was located in the list of iCloud backups even though I had deleted it. The app had been installed remotely and designed to persist through backups, likely gathering sensitive mental health information.
