I left my place looking towards my visit to Kuskovo. The metro train operator said something over the intercom before a stop. Almost everyone left the train at that stop. I didn’t know what to do b/c some stayed. All of a sudden, the train moved in the wrong direction. I should have gotten out. I jumped on another train to return, left that train at the next station, and followed the mob outside. Apparently the tracks were closed. I mixed with the crowd entering a line of buses. Scoping out my metro stop, I jumped out at my stop and walked.
I went down a street, under some train tracks, by a metal fence, through some shrub, to end up at a “lake”. You think it a water lake. NO! It was one of the marshiest lakes I have ever seen surrounded by overgrown grass and weeds. In the US it would be deserted. NOT HERE. It is a major sunbathing area. I do not know how! Men in bikini shorts next to women in their bikinis next to families barbequing. I felt like I was in another world. The old man selling wood trinkets gave it an even better flare!
I walked more and more, past old people selling flower paintings past a canal that’s seen better days to the Kuskovo Estate. It is one of those wedding reception photo paradises. Stretch hummer limos next to van limos next to regular limos. Wedding gowns next to hot pink bridesmaid dresses next to shiny grooms man suits. All this in a hot and humid day. I am sooooo glad I wore a t-shirt and shorts! They looked soooo hot but tried to look soooo cool! Me…I tried to be cool.
The main house had nice, comfortable rooms made for a country estate. I thought I heard live music but thought I made a mistake because I heard recorded music only to see the musicians at the end of the house tour. The organ set the mood while the open windows added to the relaxation. Too soon…they stopped for a break. I stopped to rest my feet. One of the violinists definitely didn’t fit with the group. His sloppy hair and lackadaisal look almost seemed clownish. He made fun of the organist when she solo performed trying to make the women laugh. I laughed at him instead. He belonged in a clown performance instead of a classical performance.
I exited the building to more people posing this way and that way. They were everywhere including the women who didn’t know how to walk in 4 inch heels. The Dutch house calmed down the day with its wonderfully blue tiled rooms and round edges. I ventured across the gardens splendidly displayed with statues, flowers, and more brides! This all stopped when I entered the grotto. Talk about gaudy. Shell art to the max! Monkey wood carving covered with shells. Walls covered with shells. It has seen its days though with missing pieces here and there and here and there. I would love to rehab the building. Alas…no…
More walking. The maze of tall shrubs to the overarching trees. Soon I saw enough and set out to visit the clay restaurant. Yes…the clay restaurant. You go, order a meal, receive clay, play with clay, and enjoy the time away. What did I do? I did as a kid would do. PLAY. My lemonade came out with its sugariness…gone in 60 seconds. So fast. My hamburger came out. Talk about HUMONGOUS! This was the MOST jam packed burger I ever ate. One bite couldn’t suffice. I had to have more and more and more. Pretty soon I saw an empty plate in amazement. I didn’t think I could do it but I loved every part of the scrumptious meal. Yummy to the core!
